The Group of GARO Companies is now offering a supplementary option for the headlight tester OPK – the “Laser aim set ОPK.05.000” for quick setting of the device in relation to the tested headlight.
According to the requirement to the OPK device setting:
— the device must be placed on the working surface in about 500-600 mm from of the tested headlight (recommended 550 mm) between the camera lens and the headlight diffuser;
— the device camera is placed height-wise so that the device lens center coincided with the headlight’s center. The lens center positions should correspond with the position of slots on the camera’s side walls;
— if necessary, the horizontal position of the camera’s optic axis is adjusted in relation to the working surface using the bubble level inside the camera;
— in order for the device moving from one headlight to another perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, it is set in relation to the vehicle with a help of the slot-like leveling device so that the horizontal line observed in the leveling device went through any two most symmetrical points of the vehicle front (e.g., upper sections of the headlight rims, sidelights, etc.).
Thus, in order to set the OPK device, the operator must perform two measurements using the gauge, setting the camera at a certain height and distance from the tested headlight, and orient the camera in perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. All these operations take time.
Now, the new development by the center of engineering services of the GARO Group – the “Laser aim set” – enables to reduce the device setting time significantly.
The “Laser aim set” consists of three laser modules:
— Two point lasers are installed into the device camera on special holders and adjusted at a certain angle so that their points coincide at the distance at which the headlight is tested. The central point of the device screen, the lens’ optic center and the lasers’ matching point must all be on the same axis.
— The third laser is a line generator that can be attached to the device stand or onto the directing device using neodymium magnets. By turning the rotating module you should first set the projected line parallel to the device cover, then aim it on two symmetrical points on the vehicle front.
The headlight tester is set correctly when the matching point of 2 lasers is in the headlight center and the generator line goes through or is parallel to 2 symmetrical points on the vehicle front.
